MARAWI CITY – Senator Robin Padilla's office extended assistance to the families of those affected by the explosion at the Dimaporo Gymnasium of Mindanao State University on the first Sunday of December.

In a news release on Thursday, Padilla, through his representative Nadia Montenegro, immediately visited the families of those who died and are still confined in hospitals in Marawi City, Lanao del Sur.

"This financial assistance is a great help to those affected by the explosion, especially the families of those who died. They extend their gratitude for your concern and love—no matter what religion or belief they have, you are always there to give courage,” Asec. Pendatun Disimban said in Filipino in his post with Montenegro.

The lawmaker added that, according to the Qur'an, if you kill an innocent person, you are killing humanity. And the sanctity of human life is emphasized in Islam.

"I want to thank my colleagues for stressing that Islam has nothing to do with this attack. Muslims will never accept violence as part of their faith," Padilla, meanwhile, said in Filipino.

Earlier, Malacañang said that the government is working closely with the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao and the concerned local government units for their swift response in this matter.

Also, the members of the Bangsamoro Transition Authority filed a resolution condemning, in the strongest possible terms, the bombing incident that ripped through during a Catholic mass service on December 3. (PLK)
