The National Bureau of Investigation, under the leadership of its Director Judge Jaime Santiago, arrested six individuals for selling government positions.

They are Diahn Sanchez Dagohoy, or Diane; Ronald Joseph Catunao; Bolkisha Balt Datadacula; Alejandro Barcena Lorino Jr.; Leomer Abon and Tita Natividad.

Reports showed that one of those is currently running as a city councilor of Parañaque City.

“May komisyon, tao lang tayo, and I’m running for a position; kailangan ko siya to sustain something—sa pagtakbo ko,” he said in an interview. (I need to sustain something while I am running.)

In a release, Director Santiago said that on January 2, 2025, a complaint was filed before the office of the Special Task Force and Cybercrime Division, alleging that on December 29, 2024, a certain Diane contacted the complainant and offered him a seat as a member of the Bangsamoro Parliament.

Accordingly, the position was offered for an amount of Php 8,000,000.00 and the complainant played along to make it appear that he was interested.

After a series of conversations, the complainant and subject, Diane, came to an agreement for the appointment of the former’s son and nephew in the BARMM parliament with a corresponding fee of fifteen million pesos (P 15,000,000.00).

Subject Diane assured the complainant of two positions (seats) that will be reserved for and will be arranged by no less than the First Lady.

Subject further claimed that successful appointees will be taking their oath of office by January 3, 2025.

A meeting was set between the complainant and the group on January 2, 2025, at the Manila Hotel.

Acting on the information, STF and CCD immediately hatched a joint entrapment operation.

Subjects were arrested after they received the marked money and misrepresented themselves as employees of the Office of the President.

Certification issued by the Office of the President confirmed that the above-mentioned subjects are not their employees nor in any way connected with the Palace.

Director Santiago commended the operatives of STF and CCD for their swift action on the matter and emphasized that no way that the government positions are for sale. (LPY)
