BARMM's DISIMBAN-RAMOS TO CHAIR SUBCOM ON COOPS

DAVAO CITY – In a Facebook post on June 23, Member of the Bangsamoro Parliament Diamila Ramos confirmed that she will be chairing the subcommittee on cooperatives, social enterprises, and halal industries.

This is a subcommittee under the Committee on Trade, Investment, and Tourism, or CTIT, of the Bangsamoro Transition Authority, whose chairperson is MP Marjanie Macasalong, the Chairperson of the Bangsamoro Youth Commission.

"Maraming salamat sa tiwala sa ating pagkakatalaga bilang Chairperson ng Subcommittee on Cooperatives, Social Enterprises, and Halal Industries ng BTA Committee on Trade, Investment, and Tourism na pinamumunuan ng Chairperson nito na si MP Marjanie S. Mimbantas Macasalong," she said.

MP Ali Montaha Babao will be the Coop Subcom Vice Chairperson.

Other Members of the said subcommittee will be MP Mosber E. Alauddin, MP Matarul M. Estino, MP Albakil D. Jikiri, MP Amroussi A. Macatanong, MP Ubaida C. Pacasem, and MP Ramon A. Piang, Sr.

In 2020, Ramos, on her Digital platforms, led cooperative webinars and News Documentaries in partnership with Mr. Saidamen Mambayao, the founder and CEO of Seed Initiative, and Mr. Julius Disamburun, a television news icon turned public servant.

In 2021, she turned over projects for Agricultural Cooperatives together with actor-turned-politician Sen. Robin Padilla and her brother, the current Cooperative Development Authority Assistant Secretary Pendatun Disimban.

Boosting Trade and Tourism Sectors

The CTIT, also formed the subcommittees on trade and investment, chaired by MP Abdullah B. Hashim and vice-chaired by MP Ishak V. Mastura, and tourism, chaired by MP Amilbahar S. Mawalil and vice-chaired by Randolph C. Parcasio.

The said committee actively leads the development of the trade and investments, cooperatives and social enterprises, and tourism sectors in the Bangsamoro region as part of their mandates under the Bangsamoro Organic Law.

"Kami po ay sama-samang magsusumikap upang siguruhin ang mga karapat-dapat na mga polisiya, programa at batas para sa kapakanan ng sektor ng kooperatiba, pagsusulong ng kaunlaran ng social enterprises at halal industries gayundin ang maayos na daloy ng kalakalan at turismo sa rehiyong Bangsamoro, In Sha Allah. (We will work together to ensure appropriate policies, programs, and laws for the welfare of the cooperative sector, promoting the development of social enterprises and halal industries as well as the smooth flow of trade and tourism in the Bangsamoro region.” (PLR)
