The office of Bangsamoro Member of
Parliament Diamila Disimban Ramos, in collaboration with the Ministry of Social
Services and Development and Marawi City Social Welfare, led the Distribution
of Cooking Kits and Family Food Packs to the affected residents, who are all
IDPs, on June 26.
In a Facebook post, MP Ramos, who is the Chairperson of the Bangsamoro Transition Authority's Committee on Women, Youth, Children, and PWDs, said that this move is part of the MSSD-BARMM's B-Cares Emergency Relief Assistance Program, which aims to provide immediate assistance and intervention to somehow alleviate the problems they are facing.
"I was very saddened to hear about the incident that happened to our IDPs. That is why, as far as I can, we immediately find a way to help and alleviate your situation. I hope the little help is enough to fully meet your needs," said MP Ramos.
BARMM's Social Services Ministry, through Provincial Social Welfare Officer Bai Yasmira Pangadapun, thanked Parliament Member Ramos for collaborating with the MSSD Lanao Del Sur for the benefit of the affected families.
"We thank MP Ramos and her office for collaborating with us so that we can help our constituents who were fire victims. I know deep in her heart she is concerned about you, so we and her staff have worked hard to reach you with the help of our BARMM government," she added.
Area 6’s Purok Leader, Johary Pacasum, expressed his gratitude to MP Ramos and the BARMM Government’s MSSD for extending their support to their area.
"During the height of the pandemic, you distributed free facemasks and face shields to us, and now you have provided help to our brothers and sisters who were affected. We know that the victims today are also the victims of the Marawi Siege, so it's really a double blow to them. Alhamdulillah! You are here to deliver help and support them."
Meanwhile, the fire brigade of the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office of Lanao del Sur responded to the said incident at Sagonsongan Shelter in Brgy. Emie Punud. Along with the PDRRMO were the Bureau of Fire Protection Provincial Office, Marawi City Fire Station, Marantao Fire Station, Piagapo Fire Station, Saguiaran Fire Station, Marawi CDRRMO, Philippine National Police, and the Philippine Army.
PDRRMO reported that 17 houses were involved, 9 units were totally damaged, and 8 houses were partially damaged. (RFG)
